Apple's Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Headset Is Nearly Completed and Ready For Production

Apple's AR/VR headset is nearly complete after passing substantial production testing. According to the headset's component suppliers, the device has completed second-phase engineering validation testing (EVT 2). By the end of 2022, the device should be ready.

The headgear has already passed the design and development stage, according to Digitimes, and might be ready for production this year. This means Apple has created a working AR/VR Headset prototype utilizing mass-produced components.

Developers frequently employ EVT 2 prototypes to test products before they are introduced to the general public. The prototype would next be submitted to be tested for design validation (DVT). Typically, these designs are very similar to the final product at the time.

The device is designed to be a high-end headset, similar to Meta's Project Cambria. See our other articles for more information on the Apple AR/VR Headset's specs and cost.

The headset will likely be announced at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 7, 2022. It is also very likely that the headset will be out by the fourth quarter of 2022.
